For this Unit me and my classmate were ask to do a short radio show for the radio channel' Chadwell Radio’ targeted at a family audience. Out main focus was to cover the following topics mental health catfishing and real word problem that once a child grows to their teens they most likely to face. This radio show is a dramatization that educates young people or young adults about catfishing by listening to this drama radio programme. This radio programme also comes with interviews and catfishing statistics that we personally think it will benefit our audience to have a full understanding of what our regular people's opinion is.
To start off me and my partner introduces the radio program name and also gave a brief description of what the radio is about so our audience can be prepared and ready to have some ideas of what this can be about. In order to get our audience attention what we did ( especially for the younger generation ) we smoothly transition each scene with sound effect and different types of music. The usage of sounds or music was also used to give the audience a short understanding that we are moving from one part to another. Music was manly used to ensure that the audience understand and can vibe with the voice actors feeling. This is one of the most effective ways that I personally think that works in order to get our audience's attention. For instance, this type of example was used at the end of the scene were we used a sad music to emphasis how the protagonist felt about the situation when she found out it was her ex.
Using sound effects, in general, helped to bring everything we did alive as me and my partner believe that this was one of the most effective ways for the audience to imagine and visualising things without actually watching but listening to it. For instance, this is presented on the radio show when the protagonist was running upstairs crying. To bring everything to live we have to actually record ourselves running upstairs.
Looking at our radio programs I can say that we put a lot of effort to make everything sound realistic and also bring alive this serious topic by not exaggerating as we actually got people that had to go through this experience. So we made sure that we presented this in the most gentle and effective way by also thinking about each word we spoke as it can possibly affect our audience. At the start of this program, we also gave the audience a content warning for the following topics we were going to present as people may find it interesting .
Now, looking at my overall work I would personally say that we did have good strengths but we also got our weakness which I personally believe is some of our silent scenes. For instance, some of the audio was loud enough for our audience to hear and some of them were very quiet. Moreover, if I had the chance to go back and make some changes I would record those part again and make it more louder so that our radio can have a natural flow without disturbing what my audience is hearing. We also had some parts where the audio cut out before that may result disturbing to for the audience as they may want to listen to the full thing .
Going back to how me and my classmate put this overall radio program together and how we wanted our audience to take in the radio. We decided to make a natural conversation so that everything goes younger generation can relate to the conversation we are having .
We end the radio program with giving our audience the information and the support we personally think it would benefit them at the end. This is one of the most effective way to end the program for the audience as it's nice to hear that we offer tho type of support. We also tanked the listeners for listening as they partake in.
To conclude it, I personally believe that we delivered the best advice and also followed to the instructions are given along with the genre. We were able to also include thing we often hear from a radio program such as jingles, dramatizations a narrator(which it was used to give the audience the description of what they would have heard )
