Evaluation

For this Unit me and my  classmate were  ask to do a short radio show for  the radio channel' Chadwell Radio’ targeted at a family audience. Out main focus was to cover the following topics mental health catfishing and real word problem that once a child grows to their teens they most likely to face. This radio show is a dramatization that educates young people or young adults about catfishing by listening to this drama radio programme.  This radio programme also comes with interviews and catfishing statistics that we personally think it will benefit our audience to have a full understanding of what our regular people's opinion is.  To start off me and my partner introduces the radio program name and also gave a brief description of what the radio is about  so  our audience can be prepared and ready to have some ideas of what this can be about. In order to get our audience attention what we did ( especially for the younger generation )  we smoothly transition each scene with s

Post production improvements

Improvement 1  8:28- 8:47  Not only in just this scene, throughout the radio programme some audio was inconsistent. In this scene, the main character's dialogue is loud and clear whilst the mothers lines appear really quiet. As they were recorded elsewhere and not on the main microphone it makes it sound like the audio is far away. To improve this, we should have brought the people into the studio, used a microphone too for them or make them record closer to the audio recording software we used outside of the school. Improvement 2 10:00- 10:28  Throughout the interviews, the background audio feels too distracting. In some interviews, you could either hear static or a loud amount of background noise. To improve this, I believe we could have asked them to record their lines again together in a more quiet place or used a different audio recording software to record their lines so it sounds more clearer. Improvement 3 5:21- 6:06   In this scene, the backing audio seems too loud. We wou

Post Production weaknesses

Technique 1:  0:29-0:31  In this scene, we attempted to overlap the audio so it sounded like the main character and her best friend were syncronishing and speaking at the same. However, after listening to project again the synchronisation seemed to be off timed and sounded awkward as the characters spoke after each other and not at the same time. This may seem awkward and unappealing to the listeners as it is a audible mistake. Technique 2:  3:52-4:46 In our brief, we stated in the Radio Programme that we wanted the listeners to imagine our characters in different areas and we would show this by the background noise when the dramatisation being out. In this time-coded scene, we wanted it to appear like the two characters were hanging out after school in the part; however, the noise we captured on the day was too blustery and windy and the listeners could be confused on where they are. I believe we could have recorded this audio on another day where we could capture birds chirping or pe

Post Production strengths

Strength 1  0:06- 0:16 In this section of our radio Programme, we wanted to set an eerie tone to present to the listeners what is about to come. Our Radio Programme is a family friendly show, but however it may contain some disturbing content. To simulate a real radio Programme we gave a 'viewer distraction '  warning to the viewers like a real radio programme would if it were to contain distressing or sensitive content. We also put eerie music in this seen and used automation to fade it in and out to emphasise the mood.  Strength 2  0:20-1:34 In this scene, we used music to emphasise the mood of the scene. The music is: up-beat, chill and happy which gets the listeners invested into what's going on in the scene. As the main character is talking with her best friend, it shows how happy it makes her. However, to show things are getting serious: we stop the music when we want to grab the listener's attention. When 'Tinder' is mentioned (being a major plot point in

Radio Drama Post Production analysis

Conventions 2 0:02-0:03 At the start of our radio programme we begin with a Jingle FX  as we wanted  the audio to sound as  realistic as possible. Then to follow  that up  we also inform the listeners  who we are and what the radio name is. I personally believe that this is a good way to give them a brief description about who we are. In addiction with the brief introduction of who we are we follow that up with music, which I personally believe that music adds that   extra  catchy attention to the audience which Ables  us to get their attention easily.  Conventions 2  Towards the middle of the radio programme we had more music in order to put the audience  in their feelings  so that they can relate to the protagonist feeling . This can be effective either way no matter if the listener can relate or not. This  was presented when  the protagonist was crying after she knew about her nudes. We put some emotional music in order to convey  the feeling  of the protagonist so that the audienc

Analysis of Feedback

According to our feedback, many of the people who got back to us believed that the overall storyline was really engaging. Some said the plot was enjoyable and that it was easy to follow and was suitable for a Family audience which it was targeted towards. Some people enjoyed the twist at the end of the show saying that is was a good plot twist and subverted their expectations. One said that they believed that teenagers can relate and sympathise with the main character. The way we included additional information about getting help was a good incorporation into the Radio programme. However, some stated that some background noise on some of the audio was too distracting and felt out of place. For example, on one of the interviews there was too much background noise and was too loud. Some of the interviews felt like they had static too. To improve upon this, we could of asked this interview to record the interviews again so that there is no background noise and does not seem distracting.

Audience Feedback of Final Edit

Tadas Background on some of the Interviews was too distracting and could have been removed.  The plot of the story was really engaging and fun to listen too, liked the ending twist at the end of the radio programme. Add more music onto the Radio Programme to make it even more fun and engaging. Clara It was well suited for a Family audience. The Storyline was understandable and easy to follow.  Thinks that teenagers can relate to our Radio Programme. James Likes the way we included informative information about getting help. Enjoyed the Interviews, making it felt genuine. The sound effects were well incorporated.  Charlie  Some sounds were too quiet. The overall Radio Programme was amazing.  The Acting was really good.

Production Journey

This is me setting up the equipment, as we were doing a Radio Programme we had to record our lines via the microphone. My colleague and I used this microphone to record our lines and we also brought in other people to record their lines when needed to. We plugged in the microphone and began to record all lines.  This is me using the Microphone. The Microphone was connected into Garage Band and everything we recorded was connected onto there. As stated previously, my colleague and I recorded our lines through this microphone and brought people in when we needed them to record their lines.   This is the studio that we recorded in live. We were located in the Gallery at our school (Chadwell Heath Academy) where it was a quiet location to record all of our lines. This studio was able to block out all noise so that there was no background interruptions when we were attempting to record all of our  lines for the radio.  We used Garage Band to create our Radio Programme on. As we could not ge

Dark Secrets Final Video + Evaluation

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrbanrA_hpc&ab_channel=MariaDipalma We were tasked to do a short radio show for the Radio channel 'Chadwell Radio' targeted at a family audience. In our Radio Programme, we decided to cover topics of mental health and real world problems and show how a regular person (like the audience themselves, in this case a young teenage girl) can get into a situation like this and what to do and how you can get help. The Radio show is a dramatization with an educational aspect to it describing what catfishing is and what will typically happen in a situation like this. The Radio Programme also gives interviews to the listeners from regular people asking what they would do in a situation like this. To smoothly transition to each scene, we used sound effects and different types of music so that the listener knows that they are moving onto a different section of the show. We also attempted to use music to convey the mood in that current situation, which I b

Funding

Image
We are using a variety of licensed music in our Radio programme that we do not own the rights to. So it can be aired live on air, we will need to get a grant so we are able to use these pieces of music freely in our radio programme without getting into any legal channel to pay for the licensing for all of the music. To legally broadcast on an FM frequency, we need to gain a license so we can do so. So we can do so, we will need to gain a grant so we can afford to have our programme broadcasted  For our Radio Programme, we are going to try and get sponsored by Childline and/or Kidscape. Both companies support children and young people in the UK; promoting our radio programme through these support companies will help encourage children to go to someone for help if they find they are struggling. These companies can also promote our radio programme as an example of a situation a young person may find themselves in and what will happen if a child is found out to be abused and what do do in

Regulatory Bodies - Ofcom

Ofcom are the regulator for communication services. They make sure that people get the best from their broadband, home phone and mobile services, and monitor TV and Radio.  Ofcom issues licenses to cover aircraft, ground-air communications and radio navigations and radar.  Ofcom licenses all UK commercial television and radio services in the UK. Broadcasters must comply by the terms of their licence, or risk having it revoked. Ofcom also publishes the Broadcasting Code, a series of rules which broadcast all content on television and radio must follow. Ofcom's broadcasting code governs what can be aired on TV and radio. It's the rule book for TV channels and radio stations and sets standards for programmes which broadcasters have to follow. How we will take these rules into Consideration:  Section one: Protecting the under eighteens  Our Radio Documentary covers sensitive topics. As this is being aimed at a family radio show, we will have to tone down some material on the show

Dark Secrets Draft and Feedback

Image
Feedback #1- Qasim  "Overall, it’s very good. The acting is pretty good and the sound effects are, too." The voice audio seems too quiet at times in relation to the sounds, though Feedback #2-  Tadas Liked the story and the themes. Some background noise on the audio was distracting. Feedback #3- John Informative. (documentary part) Some parts were too quiet. From our feedback, we discovered our strengths in the draft of our radio programme was the general story, themes and the acting. People thought it was engaging and got them drawn into the story. One also commented that our documentary section of the Radio Programme was very informative and believed it could well educate people about the dangers online and where to go for help. However, many people believed that some audio was too quiet and they could not hear, whilst one believed that some background noise on the audio felt too distracting and felt out of place compared to the rest of the audio. To make listener experie
